Steven completed his studies and began to work with various law firms. In June 200 he worked as a Law Clerk for Judge Alex Kozinski at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Next year he worked as a Law Clerk for Justice Anthony Kennedy. In 2002 he worked as an Attorney for Kirkland and Ellis. In May 2006 he worked as Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the U.S. Department of justice. After three years he became the partner of Dechert LLP. Later in November 2017, he was the Assistant Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice. In 2021 he again became the partner for Dechert LLP and will continue working with them.
