Ruthie Bolton is an American personality and a former women’s basketball player. Lucedale, Mississippi is her hometown and she tried her best to achieve a basketball career at the collegiate level, Olympic, professional- WNBA level where she had a short playing career from 1997 to 2004. Previously, she was committed to Auburn University, where she worked with her older sister named Mae Ola Bolton. In 2011, she was honored to be inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame. Despite her basketball career, she served as a first lieutenant in the United States Army Reserves as a transportation officer.

Later in 1994, Bolton moved to Italy and started playing for Erreti Faenza. During the 1993 to 1994 season, she had a record 28 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. The following season, she remained committed to Faenza, averaging 25.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. For the 1995 to 1996 season, she played in Turkey. Bolton saw her 8 consecutive seasons committed to the Sacramento Monarchs of WNBA.

Bolton had the opportunity to be part of the team that presented the USA at the World University Games in Sheffield, England during the July 1991 season. Although the USA team won the gold medal in 1983, the team won the silver medal in 1985 , came in fifth place in 1987 and later in 1989, the team did not play the game. Bolton’s team was coached by Tara VanDerveer of Stanford and they won the opening games easily before going up against China in the medal round. There at the tournament, Bolton’s team won over China by 79-76 overall runs and later advanced to the gold medal match. They then faced Spain, where they took an overall score of 88-62, later claiming the gold medal. During the match, Bolton was the team’s goalscorer and had 14 points per game. For further appearances at the 1996 Olympics, Bolton continued with her national team and appeared at the Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. During the match, while facing Ukraine, Bolton was the top scorer and had 21 points. She was the main personality in her team who helped the whole team to win all eight games and thus get the gold medal for the US team. Again for the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia, Bolton continued with her national team. During the event, the US team won all eight levels and faced Australia in the final match where the US team showed its direct presence and eventually won the gold medal.
