Maks Levin was a Ukrainian personality known for shooting war and destruction photos. He was a photojournalist and has worked since 2006. He is known to have worked with LB.ua and Reuters at the various companies he has partnered with. Although he worked on the photos along the lines of journalism, he also worked on the photos of humanitarian organizations such as UNICEF and the WHO. He went on a mission to Ukraine during the war between Russia and Ukraine and had to click on the war images, but the organization reached the news that he was being questioned because he was dead. According to Reporters Without Borders, Levin was allegedly killed by the Russian soldiers after he allegedly interrogated and tortured the man.

Maks Levin was born on July 7, 1981, making him 40 years old at the time of his death. He was an avid lover of photography and eagerly wanted to become one since childhood. During his teens, he also attended the photo club in the school. But he got his education at the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute where he was trained as a computer system engineer and in the end he became the one his father wished.

While it is not known how Levin started working in photography, as his father always wanted him to become a computer engineer, he probably started out as a photojournalist in 2006. He worked as a staff photographer for LB.ua and also as a stringer for Reuters. Among the various work profiles, he has notably worked with BBC, TRT World, Associated Press and many others. Levin had his photos published by various platforms and media companies such as Radio Bulgaria, The Wall Street Journal, The Moscow Times, Ukraine Crisis Media Center, Time, World News Media and many others. He also worked on the photos and video guidance of those photos for humanitarian organizations such as UNFPA, Health Right International, United Nations, UNICEF, OSCE, WHO, UN Women and the Organization for Security. Levin was the man who witnessed the various wars and devastation behind the 2014 Russo-Ukrainian War and during the Battle of Ilovaisk. While working for the project in Kiev, Maks Levin went missing and his fellow photographer appeared to be talking about his missing news along with another man named Oleksiy Chernyshov. Both personalities are said to have disconnected after the day of the disappearance. Finally, on April 1, 2022, Levin’s body was found near the village area and it was reported by the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office that he had been shot twice by the Russian military. During that time, Levin was found to be wearing a press coat and unarmed. After his death, Levin was honored with the Order of Courage and a funeral was held in his name at St. Michael’s Cathedral in Kiev.
