He was born in Laurel, Nebraska, and brought up in West Palm Beach, Florida where the family shifted in 1973 during his teenage years. Mark went to North Shore High School in West Palm Beach and earned the Florida high school golf championship in 1977. He played for the North Shore Golf Team during his high school years.
