Elaine Thompson-Herah was born on 28th June 1992 and she belongs to her birthplace Banana Ground in Manchester Parish, Jamaica. She went to Christiana High School and later shifted to Manchester High School. During her academic career, she was not only good in scholastics but was also regarded as an honoree of the Jamaican ISSA Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Championships held in 2009, where she was placed 4th in Class Two 100 meters with the best timing of 12.01 seconds. In 2011, during her final year at Manchester High, she was suspended from the track team and was not allowed to play because of disciplinary reasons. After completing her high school, Elaine was recruited to the University of Technology, Jamaica by Paul Francis, brother of the MVP Track Club head coach Stephen Francis.
